Questions about substitute teaching

I looked into subbing. I'm a retired engineer and taught at the college level years ago. I was really shocked at how little a sub makes. My kid made more than that lifeguarding over the summer.

I also found it interesting that the pay for a retired FCPS teacher to sub is significantly higher than for anyone else.

Really? NP but our district out out an appeal for subs starting next week and asking for new applicants. They mentioned needing the background check done (a lot of parents do already as needed for volunteering).
