Career outcomes are SIGNIFICANTLY more dependent on the individual's ability, ambition, passion, ability to work well with others, etc. than on where they go to college. Take a look at these lists of where the leadership teams for various companies studied, then choose which college to attend based on other factors that matter to you. As others have said, the biggest difference between Pitt and Penn State is location.

For pharmaceuticals:

For tech:

For Wall Street:

And for CEOs of all types of companies:

If your kid could get admitted to a more reputable business school, that is where they should go.

To what end? It has no advertisements and appears not to be selling anything.

The Smeal School of Business at Penn State is well-regarded.

Many students enter Penn State wanting to get a degree from Smeal, but end up having to switch majors if they do not qualify for admission to a Smeal major, by the end of sophomore year.

They're both good schools but very different in feel. The academic stats for students at Pitt are higher than at PSU (1350 SAT/31 ACT/4.07 GPA vs. 1265 SAT/28 ACT/3.58 GPA), but it's not a night and day difference. I think most kids would have a strong preference between the two as one is integrated into a mid-size city and the other is a classic college town in a rural part of the state.

Pitt students have more undergrad internship opportunities, being in Pittsburgh and all.

What a stupid wording when explaining to a new comes to the U.S. Couldn’t you simply say Pitt is in a city and Penn State is in the middle of nowhere. What is “one is” and “the other”.

DP: Your own wording could use some work, PP.

Well, no. No one should attend both.

Agree, i don't see why you would want to attend both, especially for the same business major. Maybe if you want to create a youtube video comparing both schools?

Pitt is more popular among kids we know who have grown up near or in major cities.

Many kids do love Penn State, though. You should visit both if you can. Personally I like Penn State’s campus a lot.
