Williamsburg to retire

Expensive area. ~same COL as NoVA imo. Be aware that the elderly in Kingsmill, Ford’s Colony, and Gov’s Land don’t necessarily maintain their homes. Many go right into AL after. Get a very tough home inspector, not the one that your realtor recommends.

Getting more congested and blue as the NY/NJ/PA horde descends. Watch the Nov ‘23 elections closely as the red James City County and redder York County might have very close races.

Well, your COL opinion is definitely wrong. COL for Williamsburg is LESS than the COL for the State of Virginia as a whole:

And many if the areas neighboring DC have a much higher COL than that.

We visited during Admitted Students Day and were turned off by the more conservative politics.

Also, it's a little too warm in summer for the likes of us.

I mean, W&M isn't conservative. But the surrounding Williamsburg is.

Sure, and making it up out of your own head is so much better!

We have been looking around various areas to retire but Williamsburg never comes up. I’ll have to look again but I remember DH thinking long ago there wasn’t much to do there. It could be a little too quiet for us. Has it changed much?

Williamsburg is blue. It votes about the same as NoVA.
