| Well it seems you simply can't manage the logistics. Not all parents can, nothing to be ashamed of. |
I feel so bad asking someone to drive when I know I can’t repay the favor! |
| What county offers MS sports? I didn’t think this was offered in public schools in the DMV |
Prince William County does. |
But how do working parents do it? That’s not a rhetorical question. I barely make it to pick up my youngest kids at 4:25 when they get out. These away games start at 4! And now they are saying practice ends at 4:30 and pickup needs to be prompt? At 4:30 I’m barely out of the elementary school parking lot loop! |
| You need to deal with it, everyone else does. Put your younger kids in aftercare so it gives you flexibility to pick up your middle schooler. Or pay someone to transport your kid from school to home. |
And Montgomery. Are you friends with any parents on the team or are any of them in your neighborhood? I’d have no problem driving my kid’s teammate home or to games in this scenario so long as they lived close to me. |
Yes, this is what working parents with no flexibility have to do. |
| Is this private school? There's no middle school that is public that I know of in the area that provides MS sports that are 5 times a week. If this is private school you can afford a nanny or driver. |
|
MS sports seasons and even HS ones are usually about 6-7 weeks. What do you mean months at a time? Are you sure you have the schedule right?
|
Yeah, I've never heard of anyone participating in a carpool without contributing. Everyone is busy and finds these scheduling logistics hard and stressful. |
| How old is your MS child? Ours took public transportation. |
Maybe not some SAHMs to the same degree, but they're often juggling multiple kids as well. |
I've driven a few friends home in situations like this. Their parents are nice so they usually "pay back" in offering rides to other things like movies or on the weekend activities. |
I work and my child could not participate in after school MS sports until he could take public transportation. It's a long walk to the bus and a long walk back too. You're not the only one in this situation and your child does not "have" to do MS sports. |
