We bought a house where the previous owners had 2 dogs and 3 cars. We hired a cleaning service for a move in cleaning before we moved in.
We pulled the washer/dryer, fridge and oven away from the walls to vacuum behind them. And most importantly, we cleaned all the walls with sponges and soap and then repainted. Cleaning the walls sounded ridiculous, but the amount of hair that came up was crazy. Thankfully, we didn't have carpets, but I imagine we would have had to pull them up. We didn't end up doing a vent cleaning, because we'd read that they're sort of a scam. |
| The pet odor might be masking a mold problem too. Get an indoor air test; any outfit like Nova Environmental or really anyone licensed. |
| Never, ever keep the carpet from a previous owner. Pet or no pet. But most especially, if there were pets, even more so, even if you have one. |
He does what now? 🤮 |
| Like some other PPs, we removed flooring and had to remove large areas of sub flooring. This was from cats. I don’t think dogs are as bad/insidious. |
