Experience at the swim club. Normal?

Ask for your money back. Say either you want the three lessons scheduled and confirmed within the next three days or you want your money back.

We’ve been in swimming for years. One DS is quite competitive in a year round club.

This is very aggravating but not unusual. If you like the teacher, try to deal with the last minute scheduling.

I don’t think you’ll get your money back because I don’t think they have a mechanism to make it happen based on the level of organization you described.

Our swim club has private lessons but they are scheduled through the person who schedules group lessons. They are taught by separate WSI certified instructors who have their schedules blocked off separately from their guard shifts.

Your pool sounds pretty old and poorly maintained with a tiny staff. It is probably very neighborhood-based and maybe doesn’t have a huge membership or active wait list? That isn’t unusual but that’s also not the kind of pool to join when you’re hoping for great lessons and service. You might luck into good instructors and great communication at a pool like that, but you can’t expect it.

You’re pretty patient. After 2 missed lessons I would be raising h*** with manager.
Do that now, or get your money back. Get mad. It’s a terrible disorganized business. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

But they weren't missed. She brought a pack of the lessons and they don't have to be scheduled weekly.

We have had both good and bad luck. Some of the teachers will constantly give you the run around and others are fantastic. Ask around now who is good and get on their rotation next year.

Have a heart - these are young kids! You are being too much of a Karen or whatever people are saying these days.

This is op. I have been flexible but the pool will close soon, and they aren't going to refund us. My son also likes the lessons and wants to do them at least one time a week.

Because she wants swim lessons scheduled she paid for months ago. No. Everything a woman does doesn't make her a Karen. Get a grip. She should stand back and let them take advantage. No

How did you pay? By card I hope.

I'd write them one last note demanding I get what I pay for and then I'd issue a charge back. I'd also post an extremly detailed account of it all- names and dates- and post it on Google, Next Door, Yelp, and Facebook.

We paid with a check. They only accept check or cash and you must pay for all of them before the pool opens so a day before memorial day. We are okay. I think we can get through them all.

Regarding maintenance - unless you have a strong and competent volunteer board , it probably won’t get better.

I would ask to talk to member rep on the board and ask about their maintenance plans. If you have any relevant skills and value your community pool, maybe CJ wider offering them,

Our community pool is amazing with a long wait list thanks to the many talented and often accomplished volunteers who valued all the many different benefits that strong pool teams and communities bring.

Good luck!

Sorry should say maybe consider volunteering your talents and time to help the pool improve maintenance (it usually takes years of planning and budgeting to do properly).

If your child is young, your family has many years to benefit from a community pool. The local DMV summer swim and dive teams offer many great team and individual experiences (B meets are for everyone while A meets are for the competitive swimmers and divers). Many people have very happy memories from being part of summer swim and dive teams.

These facilities do not employ great managers. Our pool is pay as you go.

I have a high schooler. They never know their schedules in advance because they have pool managers making the schedule just a couple days in advance, they have school team coaches changing schedules all the time, and they have parents who schedule family activities without telling them. The manager should have scheduled you with another person. But I have a feeling the manager is a teenager or very young adult as well.
