Decades ago people did not tip on alcohol.
Today, you tip when you have drinks at a bar. You also tip when you have drinks at your table. |
| 18-20 on pre tax. |
| Jfc of course you tip $50!! |
I was born in 1975, and I’ve always tipped on alcohol. |
yes, no tip on alcohol and tip pre-tax amount |
Surprising. You are old enough to know. |
| I tip 20% on pre-tax, on the whole bill. |
|
I was a server from 1990 and worked in restaurants all thru college.
Yes, you tip on the full amount. Don't like it, eat at a cheaper restaurant. Don't like my answer, do something to change the system. If you have 250 for dinner, have 20% for tip. Servers get raises by paying dues at a lower priced restaurant, getting experience and then getting jobs at better places with hopefully better tips and higher bills. This is the system we have in the US. Don't penalize the server because you don't like it. Cook at home instead. |
| Why wouldn’t you? |
Is this your first time at a more expensive restaurant? |
What old days are you talking about? I waited on tables/tended bar in the 80s and you absolutely tipped on alcohol. |
That's what I do. Cook at home. Restaurants are ripoff places these days and very rarely do I get good service. Most servers are indifferent so it feels weird paying 20% on top of service charges 🙄 |
That was never thing unless you're just a cheap a$$h@le. |
How many decades ago, 10? |
