Vent: lost 30 pounds still fat

Anonymous
Way to go! I’ve lost 30 pounds and it took me 2 years!! When I look in the mirror or at pictures, I think “could be better could be worse”

I’ve been at a plateau for a while searching for the right next step. I’m now focused on building muscle. I’m doing the Syatt Inner Circle program and tracking progress through InBody scans. I’m gaining muscle and it’s been a great mental boost.

Keep up the great work!

OP, first off congrats. You mention feeling healthier so that right there is a reward. Fitness is more than clothing size.

Second, I’ll mention that I have a BMI of 22 and look fat/like I have a double chin in some photos. I just remind myself that the camera truly is not accurate and our bodies look different depending on the angle/lighting. So maybe it was just a bad batch of pics.

Third, I wonder if you have some residual body dysmorphia from being unhappy with your weight before?

160 to 130 is not as noticeable as 130 to 100. I bet you feel really good and look a lot better. You're not thin but you're not fat.

I lost 30 pounds(!!) over the last 10 months and have been feeling better and liking what I see in the mirror. I’m also just below a BMI of 25, so technically “normal” weight for my height. I was out with friends and pictures were taken. When I saw them my heart sank. I still look fat. I know I need to keep plodding along with what I’m doing because it’s working; I’m not giving up. It just felt bad to see that after all the time and effort to get to a normal BMI I’m still fat. Thanks for listening.

I am in the same boat OP and I know exactly how you feel. I lost 50 lbs and I am still the fat friend and it really sucks. And my weight loss has stalled. It's hard to keep at it. I am going to break down and ask for weight loss meds. I have another 30 lbs to go.
Congrats on the weight loss and hang in there!

I'm guessing you look great, OP. You just may not realize it!

+1 I’m self-critical too, OP. I bet you look fantastic.
