Why doesn't MCPS give PE credit for school sports

| My kids are in year round private sports. They got 4-6 days a week. Pe is silly for those kids. |

| My student already speaks three languages and plays in a youth orchestra. It would be great to skip the language and music requirements. |

School sports are different from private sports. They can verify you are doing the sport.
School orchestra is a for-credit class and so are language classes you take at school. You don't get credit for outside orchestra nor do you get credit for speaking another language at home or going to heritage language school outside your regular school. You're actually making the point for everyone. |

My dc already writing college level research essays and knows how to program pbject oriented languages. Silly to think they belong in high school at all |

Getting credit for orchestra would be nice. Private and school is not comparable |

Agreed. They should let kids show proficiency in certain classes and let them test out. |

Same reason they don't give credit for AOPS/RSM/Cathay/Chinese/Hebrew school.
It's not part of the cookie cutter curriculum. |
