If I had to wait until I'm making 500k to enjoy owning this car, I would be dead long before it happens.

This makes no sense. How can afford payments?

Easy. I'm leasing the car and the lease is $1000 per month. I can afford the payments because I have lower housing expenses.
My rent is $1200 for a 1bd apartment. I could have rented an apartment in a more upscale building for $2200 like others and driven a Honda Civic. I prefer to pay a cheap rent and drive a Porsche Cayenne.

Our HHI is 1m and we have no debt other than our mortgage which is 6k a months. I'm hemming and hawing about buying a new Pacifica at $55k. That's way more than I've ever spent on a car.

DP. If they’re renting an apartment anyway I guess they can skimp on the apartment and lease a nice car. I suppose everyone here would tell them not to lease a car, buy an affordable car, and save the extra money to buy a house someday.

You guys are crazy. Almost every decent new car is now 40k+. You can get the car.

All of my classic cars are valued and insured for over $100k plus… Doesn’t matter what my HHI is. I restored them myself.

Seemingly snarky intent but nonsense response.

It’s not any dumber than paying $2,200 for an apartment… or renting ANY apartment at all. Renting is even dumber.

I know someone making about 180k and they have a 100k Tesla model S

I had another classmate who got a job paying low 100’s out of school and he got some kind of car that cost around his annual salary, I think one of the top end Audi’s

Maybe they have family money and the parents are paying for this.
