| I had a painter advise me to use SW for walls and BM for trim. He said extra quality is worthwhile for trim from a perspective of coverage and durability, but it doesn’t really matter for walls. |
| SW makes great paint. Coverage is good, it is durable and washes really well. |

I've used and liked them both. It often comes down to which one has the color I want and/or the price. SW is definitely cheaper when they run sales, but I tend to like the colors selection from BM more.
Both are quality paints and with normal wear and tear will hold up just fine. |
| BM hands down. It’s also rated higher in consumer reports. |
| Every painter I’ve used has been happy to use either as long as it’s not their lowest level. And triple hell no to picking out SW colors if I already decided on BM. Picking colors is so much work and I’ve had bad experiences with color matching to other brands. Maybe he gets a better discount on SW and higher margin |
| I only repaint every 20 years so BM over SW. |

BM has a more historic earthy color story while SW is preferred by people who like brights, heard them compared to MAC cosmetics.
Quality wise they're on par, and SW's sale prices are really good. I think the stores actually have the codes for other brands' colors stored on their computers, so it's easy to color match -- but it won't be an exact replica. In the end no paint is going to break the bank like other house purchases, so go with what you prefer. |

Do not color March. I made that mistake. I picked a BM color and matched it at SW. It'd not the same color and i ended up having to repaint. It was a mistake.
Most of my house is painted sherwin williams. If they ask you to reconsider brand just go to the Sherwin willliams store and find a similar color. The paint quality seems the same. I admittedly don't see a difference between rooms it's just the color wasn't right when I color matched and I wanted a specific color. |
| Strongly recommend NOT color matching. If you need to touch up in a few years, and don’t have paint leftover or it’s gross, it’s very hard to get the same color again color matched precisely. Also, color matching is never the exact color. |
