I have done local monitoring up to a certain point, and then up to NYC for the last week to week and a half. I worked remotely and grandparents came in to help with my DS. It’s a lot of logistics.

I just had one appointment in NYC. It worked out to 14.5 hours round trip. I left before DC woke and got back after he was in bed. I worked from the train and it was exhausting! I think folks typically do the monitoring locally as PP said. The logistics are not pretty.

Agree the logistical planning is a massive PITA, but doable with a combo of remote monitoring, remote working, and hubs/family watching the other kid(s) when you go for retrieval. I did both NYC and CO, and stayed in DC as long as I could until I was called over. CO obviously a bit trickier and further, realistically youll be out there for a few days for retrieval. It definitely is inconvenient but we felt was worth the hassle.
