Love watching the birds and pollinators this time of year

This year I planted a couple of agastache in an empty spot—they shot up, got a little raggedy. I was on the fence about the wisdom of the addition until they were fully in bloom—and were quickly covered with bees, it seems literally every minute of the day. Never seen another plant like it (even tho I have plenty of the standard pollinator perennials…)

Agastache is magic! I have about 20 plants in my little row house yard, and they are all covered with native bees and honey bees. They spread but are easy to pull up when they get too unruly. Probably my favorite plant for pollinators, though Joe Pye is a close second.

I only have the large fat black bees this year. I haven’t seen the smaller brown bees. No one in my neighborhood sprays for mosquitoes. So sad.
