Plastic boxes instead of shoe boxes? Worth the effort?

I stack my plastic Container Store boxes on shelves above my clothes. Very organized and accessible. Leave shoes on floor overnight to air out (or dry if damp from bad weather), then store in plastic box. Have never had any odor issues.
