No the huge up tick in crime was Jan 6th related. Those criminals maga type. |
| Sat on a fed GJ for 9 weeks a few years ago. I think they may have excused me for life after that! |
|
I had jury duty in DC two weeks ago. Before that, I have usually been called every 3 years since I moved here in 2009. The last time I was called was 2019, so this was right on time given how courts slowed down during COVID.
My husband gets called less often than I do for some reason. We moved here at the same time, and he's had jury duty maybe twice, while I have had it five times. |
Only 9 weeks? I had GJ duty for 18 months and still get called by one court or another every year. |
How did you keep your job if you sat on a GJ every day for 18 months? |
| I haven’t been called since prepandemic. And before I was called on cycle, like others have said. |
Not PP but you don’t report for grand jury every day. |
|
My husband and I are both called for DC jury duty every 2 years like clockwork.
I was called for the Blackwater federal trial but got out of it because i had pre-existing international plane tickets. I found out that this was the trial because I have a friend who worked for the court |
| I get called every two years as well. Plus the occasional GJ or federal court summons. Only served on one jury, though. |
It's a schedule, not daily. I think it was 3 days per week usually, sometimes more, never less. But the answer is that is illegal to fire you for this. But as a practical matter, I ended up working before and after jury duty and all weekend long to keep up. It was not a healthy schedule. Several people on our jury who were renters moved out of DC to get disqualified. |
| not recommending this, but a huge share of people called for jury duty just ignore it. the response rate here is low. |
| They call me every year, way more than they are supposed to and I have to explain to them that I have already been called. |
PP on 9 weeks of GJ in DC - technically federal but only local crimes. Every day 9-4 (sometimes we got out early). No electronics. Could bring work but only hard copy documents and of course, nothing confidential. Like the other PP, did a lot of work before/after/weekends. It does happen. |
| I no longer live in DC, but when I did I used to get summons for both the DC Superior court and the federal court every two years like clockwork. Once I got summons for both courts for the same day. I did serve on a DC trial but never federal. |
| I am called every two years but the one time I served was fed court |
