Amen. So very, very sad about his death. |
+1 to all of this. |
I took guests to a restaurant near my home in SW Florida and one of the guests asked the waiter if the restaurant had always been a restaurant since it was an interesting building. He told us that the building had originally been a movie theater and was in fact the theater where Paul Rubens had been arrested in the 90s. Fun fact! RIP Pee Wee

GenX is reeling |
My Boomer mom introduced me to PeeWee as a kid when he was a frequent guest on The Tonight Show. Then I became huge fan of PeeWee’s Playhouse, as did my own kids when they were little. (Watched on DVDs) He had wide appeal. Really loved him a lot. |
I am really feeling it. Pee-wee was a staple of my childhood. |
One of the funniest things he did was show up at the MTV awards show in full character a few weeks after he had been arrested in a Florida theater for pleasuring himself in public at a porn theater.
The 1st thing he said to the audience was "heard any good jokes lately? Then " that's so funny I forget to laugh! " He received a standing ovation. Priceless, it was so funny. |
He claimed he should not have been arrested because the theater ticket taker told him to "be sure to hold onto your stub" |
The theater was in Sarasota? Which restaurant? We’re in Sarasota once or twice a year. |
I’m 45 and not once have I watched his show. And never saw Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. Never understood the appeal of Pee Wee. |
You not once ever watched the show and never saw his most popular movie. Surprise! Those are keys to understanding the appeal. |
Folks, please remember our "48 hour" rule that prohibits speaking ill of the dead until 48 hours after their death. |
Loved him as a kid and was sad to hear about his passing. Thanks to the pp above who mentioned the misremembering part. I was too guilty of that and it makes me sad. A great lesson for all of us. |
+1 It sounds like he knew he was loved, thankfully. |
