Would you rather travel with immediate family or with friends?

Immediate family is easier, but it can also work with right people. I think for families with kids, a resort-type place can be great. The kids enjoy each other, the parents get to socialize. We've done this at a spot where each family has a separate condo. We can cook for each other, eat apart, go to restaurants, etc. And with the right folks, there's no pressure to meet up.

We've done couples trips, too, and while they've been good, it certainly would've been less stressful if it had just been DH and me. Easier to decide activities, restaurants, etc. when there are only two people with opinions.

We travel with friends all the time. I love traveling with friends because their kids are the same age as my kids. The kids basically play and entertain themselves the entire time and adults can enjoy adult time. It is the best.

We have never had an issue with clashing opinions on activities or food. Everyone just goes along with what other people suggest. We plan a lot of things ahead of time so everyone gets to do what they want.

I have traveled with family and do not enjoy and that is more of a mixed bag. Family is more complicated than friends IMO.

Immediate family. I do not want to cook in, and it’s difficult to find restaurants that can accommodate 10 or 12.

Traveling with friends is easiest if you have separate places at the same location. We rent cabins side by side each year and it's a lot of fun for everyone.

Sounds awful. I travel with my spouse or with my sister or alone. Otherwise, sounds like a headache. Big group travel is a nightmare

Immediate family: this is my preference. DH and I compromise some, but mostly we like the same things and have fun together. The kids are not old enough to complain about our vacations yet.

Friends: a very select few, whose traveling style is similar to our own. Kids have fun together. But still an added consideration.

Extended family: a lot of compromise. Mixed generation so usually only AI or cruise would work.

With kids, I prefer family only. If it's just me, I love a girls trip with friends.

We had the best of both worlds last spring break. So many people were in Florida. We took an immediate family trip, but met up with another family for dinner one night, a different family for the pool another day, a 3rd family for a day at a theme park. It was great! And we didn't have to plan each day around eachother's schedules.

I like traveling with my DH. I like traveling with my best friend from college and my sister. I like traveling with my DH, my sister and her DH.

I do not like traveling with my DH and our two adult children. One on one is fine, but the four of us together gets problematic.
