why do people say cats don't love us?

I lost my little guy 3 mos ago. I am one of those people that always cries at shows and movies, and when I would cry, he would always come and sit with me and put his paw on my arm. I miss him so much.

This is my cat too. We’re on vacation now and I miss her so much!

Really? Within a day of returning from a trip where we had a pet sitter my cat will poop on the floor. Usually she does this in a space that is used only by my husband or me. Does that mean she hates us? No, I think she's a sociopath who gets passed at us for leaving.

I’m sorry. Hugs. Cats are precious beings.

I've come down with some bug or virus or something, and have been in bed feeling crappy all day.

My 3 year old cat is normally very energetic and playful, but she sensed something was wrong with me today. She headbutted me about 20 times. When I wasn't responding due to total lethargy, she then pat my head with her paw. I still didn't respond. Then she licked my forehead. I just laid there. Then she curled up and napped by me, with her face <1 inch from my face for about 2 hours.

Yes, we anthropomorphize cats, but they clearly feel love (expressed and trust), and love us in return, in their own ways.
