People who keep saying it's not legal to compound are ignorant. If it were illegal, these pharmacies wouldn't be doing it. It's only when they use the actual name wegovy or ozempic or whatever, that is causing shutdowns and lawsuits. |
FWIW, Rybelsus didn't do much for me. My former primary care doc's NP prescribed it for me for weight loss when I saw her for knee pain. I didn't lose any weight and it made me really nauseated. I mentioned this to my new concierge doc and she said that Rybelsus isn't anywhere near as effective as the injectibles, so much so that she doesn't recommend it at all. |
Worry about the possible long term effects from Semi-G.... |
Regarding: "Worry about the possible long term effects from Semi-G...."
as if there are no known long-term risks associated with obesity. |
I have been on compounded semaglutide for about a month. I get it from a long established pharmacy near me in Arlington. $250 a month, plus $50/month membership fee and copayment for wellness clinic. My insurance approved wegovy for 7 months but I can’t find the initial doses anywhere. My plan is just to use compounding until I can level up to doses available at pharmacies. |
Good for you. Seems the most vocal critics of compounded semaglutide (not the least of which is Novo Nordisk for obvious reasons) refuse to acknowledge that there are long-established, highly reputable local compounding pharmacies in many if not most major urban areas. |
I think Canada has stopped the import of Wegovy (or any sorts of the likes of that kind of semiglutide meds) into the USA. I could be wrong. |
No. Paralyzed stomach — literally, “gastro” “paresis” — is not the goal. Idiot. Slower digestion =/= lifelong crippling GI disorder |
At least one Canadian province has indeed banned the sale of Ozempic to US citizens. They are at least attempting to prevent our supply problem (in the States) from becoming their problem. |
I’ve had no problems with my compounded semaglutide. It’s affordable and incredibly effective. I love not being hungry all the time. |
Congratulations. It so happens I have enjoyed the same success with semaglutide from a long-established highly reputable bricks and mortar compounding pharmacy. |
Name one. The biggest risk of obesity in this country is getting slagged off by bored housewives on forums like this. BMI is a bogus metric (source: its creator https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=106268439), and the "medical condition" it diagnoses (i.e. obesity) has zero intrinsic problems. Beyond making one's obvious form a target for bullies, of course. I bet your spouse's savings my health is better than yours, even though my size is bigger. |
Hypertension: Excess levels of body fat cause it for many and worsen it for others of us who are genetically predisposed to it. If you dispute that you are delusional. |
Semaglutide has been in use for nearly 20 years-it's not new.
One 'side effect' they published a report on recently was a 20% reduction in risk of heart attack, heart disease and stroke. Sign me up for those side effects! |
I was on it for 3 months. I was actually violently ill pretty much ever other week. I had to stop. |
