You are clearly not in a school impacted by by the arrival of students with zero or limited time in school for their age. But ok? |
Most of those kids are in ESOL or remedial classes and not really interacting with the regular to higher level kids so that's really irrelevant. And, those kids deserve far more than what MCPS is giving them. |
Great. Meanwhile MCPS is resisting advancing students ahead of age dates because they see in real time what it is like to have 16 year olds in middle school. This goes to why the system is currently so resistant to any variation on age of entry. Just info. |
Come MS, kids can take Algebra in 7th, 6th if the school offers it. How much more accelerated do you want for math? Agree the English curriculum needs revised and have a regular and real honors classes but the age isn't the issue, its money. They don't want to do a separate curriculum and separate teachers, which makes no sense in MS and HS but they care more about their fake equity and pet projects than education. |
What are you talking about? Some kids are too old so they don't want young kids? They love having old kids so they don't want young kids? |
They are complaining about the immigrants who aren't always placed grade/age as they may not have had a proper education prior to MCPS or speak English. Those kids are a select minority and it doesn't impact other kids. Come HS, many classes like music, theater, art, and other electives are mixed grades 9-12 and math can also have a span of a few grades as well. So, some of the argument is silly. My 9th grader will take classes with 11/12 graders next year. No big deal. |
