I heard from a doctor who visits all these places that the best in the area are Goodwin House and Arleigh Burke (aka Vinson Hall). Arleigh Burke's beds are private but 100% covered by Medicare. I would not want to be in rehab in a semi private room.
A plus to picking a place like Goodwin House or Arleigh Burke is that they have private pay memory care/assisted living/independent living in the same complex if your family can't return home. Also, family members from these communities are at rehab constantly watching the staff so there is a lot of oversight vs a standalone rehab. |
Our experience at Cherrydale 9 years ago was mixed. The physical therapist was excellent - a caring and skilled professional! The doctor in charge was sketchy as hell - asked my family member to go on a date! Hopefully, that guy is long since retired. |
We had a terrible experience in the acute rehab at GW ten years ago. Hopefully, it's improved since then. |
OP here- my Dad got into VHC’s program, which you must qualify for physically. You must have the strength a desire to be able to do pt/ot for a total of three hours a day. We are so pleased that he’s there. I did hear great things about Goodwin House and Arleigh Burke and those were my back-up choices. Thank you all for your input! |
