| CD Cellar of Falls Church may accept them. Largest selection of used CDs/DVDs in Mid-Atlantic region. My husband loves going there and walking out with a stack of music CDs |
Fairfax County’s Friends of the Library definitely does want these. They put them out for sale at the library on a special shelf, for a nominal sum. I have sometimes bought used books, CDs, and DVDs from them. Proceeds benefit the county libraries. So donating CDs (or DVDs or used books) to the Friends of the Library is a win-win. |
Each library branch in Fairfax has its own Friends of the Library, so if at first you don't succeed, try a different branch. Or if you have a really large amount, consider splitting. Montgomery County Friends of the Library also accept CDs. Large quantities at the Rockville Store, 4886 Boiling Brook Parkway. |
| Keeping mine in case I'm poor when retired and can't afford streaming. |

No one wants your junk.
My wife works as a Manager in a large local library. People are constantly ‘donating’ their basement and garage crap- books, CD’s, self published manuscripts, etc. Libraries have a system for acquisitions, based on the budget, library needs, etc. |
I put them in folders and keep them. All this streaming stuff sucks. I want to own the music I listen to. |
| Cds are coming back with kids. I have all my 90s indie cds, my husband’s college rock and classic rock, my father in law’s classical collection. But we also have vinyl, too. I miss old media. I agree, streaming sucks. |
| We still play them. Especially the holiday ones. |
Friends of the Library is not the same as the Library staff itself. And in Fairfax County, the FOTL definitely want the used CDs, books, et alia for fundraising. Each Fairfax County library has a special location for the FOTL items. |
+1. Friends of the library is just a fundraising effort. They store and then sell all the junk and then hand the money to the library to acquire whatever it needs. |
| You might see if your local school’s art teacher would like them. |
| I still buy them, as my car only has a cd player. Donate music CDs to a thrift store or friends of library store.. |
