Your best bet is to move her to family in a nursing home where someone can visit regularly - weekly or twice a month and get into the best nursing home you can private pay that takes medicaid and then transfer over to medicaid when the money runs out.

They prefer Bay area, Midwest, Hawaii or DMV as they've friends, family and siblings in these areas but comfortable affordability is tgeir major preference so low cost of living, good healthcare, good nursing care matter. Too afraid of elder abuse in nursing homes.

I would be worried for the mom if she shields her assets and then be at the mercy of Medicaid nursing homes. If I was the offspring, I would rather my mom spend her money on good care for herself.
