Meant to say " he's NOT super small." |
| The original post..said her son’s doc told her he was tanner 2, leading me to believe she was put out the room. Way different than when I was growing up…even at 16 mom wld be in there when the doc gave me a physical. But…ya know, boys even gang showered back then, now they just go from morning football practice and sit in the bacteria (covered with cologne all day). WHAT I’m SAYING Is..it’s sad how much we sexualize biology, shame it unconsciously, especially to boys..they need that body confidence for their adulthood..and and being 5’1 in freshman year or barely hitting puberty should be a motivation to press forward as a strong young man with confidence..it will pay dividends big time in adulthood. I was 5’11 and 130 pounds soak and wet when I graduated high school..no matter how many work outs..what I ate..it took time for the metabolism to slow down..youth is AlWAYS a blessing…no matter what I went thru..it was the best time..at time before the reality of LIFE hits ya dead in the face…WELL..THAT IS, IF we encourage em to be confident and strong males and not allow the unnecessary tiddly things of teen-hood get into their minds |

Your son’s doc told you he was tanner 2, leading me to believe you were put out the room, like “I know your his mother and he’s a kid, but get out of here” wow..the body shame of this 21st century is so Way different than when I was growing up…even at 16 mom wld be in there when the doc gave me a physical. ^ what??
NP here. I never left the room when my son had his 13 year old appt. I asked him if he’d like me to leave and he said no, but I wasn’t peering at his crotch along with the doctor. The doctor told me his Tanner stage with me having never left the room. |
| Sounds like a late bloomer. My 13 1/2 year old DS has been tracked every 6mths by his pediatrician for years due to slow/no growth and we just took him to an endocrinologist. His test results are wonky so there are more ordered, but I’m still not convinced he’s not just a late bloomer since DH and I both were. |
+1 My nephew went through the voice changes and mood changes at 16, stopped studying, acted out and grades dipped and parents are worried about his college prospectives. He was a very good student academically. Still smart but what if you are unable to get into the college you want to? We will know soon. |
