Im sorry for your loss. Im Hindu, and we just immersed my dad’s ashes in a river in India that flows into the Ganges. The person upthread who wrote a detailed post was explaining the process. It can be very involved depending on how orthodox you are. My dad’s side is extremely religious. We’ve had rituals going on for a month and a half. My mom died in the Bay Area. We threw her ashes out into the Bay. It was a meaningful spot for my family. It’s so hard to say goodbye to your parents, but there’s something beautiful about setting their souls free and leaving no trace. |
This fall or after kids go back to school, go to Sandy Point in MD, put the ashes in a bucket, mix some sand in, wade in the water, fill bucket with water and dump the bucket. Say whatever prayers you want and it’s done. Or you could walk out on the rocks and do it from there. Might not be legal but it’s simple and easy to do. |
