This is a 35 yr old WOMAN. Not a kid. A woman. Old enough to run for president. |
| Good for her. You should be happy she doesn't throw money away on rent and bring home multiple guys. |
| This has totally stunted her development. At 35 she's a bit late if she wanted marriage and children. |
I mean, this, realistically. But yes, you should absolutely clue her in on the fact that you are looking to retire elsewhere and sell the house. This is a good time for her to start looking into buying a condo/townhome for herself. Don’t just drop the bomb on her once you’ve finalized your plans. |
Then absolutely have the conversation. Talk to her about your plans. Doesn't need to be a "get out next month" since this is a long status quo and she seems responsible. Give her a chance to figure out next steps. I wouldn't even talk timeline in this conversation. But, talk to her, plant the seed, see what she says. Get the ball rolling. Adult to adult. |
Ask her if she wants to buy this house and continue living here or rather move to NC and buy something in your neighborhood. |
This. My kids know that the second the youngest is in college, we’re selling the house and moving. They’re in middle school. |
As PP noted, a 35-year-old person is a not a "kid." Except in DCUM land, I suppose. And this one is a teacher, not someone with low-functioning disabilities. The time for her to move out happened during the Obama Administration. |
| You don't have much of a relationship with her, do you Op? It's inconceivable that it's not shared. |
| Op, you know her well and you know why she likes living with you. Mine kids would leave me the minute they could. |
President or not, they never stop being our kids. |
|
Pretty sure any 35 year old who is still living at home is never going to be president. |
I'll get her out the house!!! hahaha |
And that's okay. I don't know what's so great about being president (ex. trump was one too). |
