This is OP. Just wanted to say how much I appreciated all of the kind words. It’s been just a month and a day since we put him down, and I am still in tears at times (like now).

I'm so sorry. I've been there twice, and it's always hard when you realize that time is of the essence, but it's a weekend... I'm glad that your vet was able to be there for you and your dog. I'm sure your Yorkie knew how much he was loved.

It’s been almost two years and every now and then my eyes still well with tears. Just hugs. And you (truly) are the type of owner any dog would dream of having.

I'm in tears again, OP, thinking about the dog I had to say goodbye to six months ago. And all the generations before that. Hugs to you. I'm grateful for the vets who are there to help and for the support in forums like these.
