I’m considering starting to tip down to 15% rather than 20% in most situations. I’m tired of seeing the mediocre service at most places in the DMV - having the food delivered by bussers who auction off the food because they don’t know who ordered what, etc. Traditionally tipping was supposed to be on the cost of the food, not taxes and booze too. The system is broken.
Now if I’m at a cheap diner outside the DMV and the bill is like $45 for service to 5 people, and the waitress is coming back multiple times to refill coffee and bring extra creamers, etc., I’m tipping way up to make sure she gets decent pay for her work. |
