Solo trip

You could go literally anywhere… it would help if you let us know what kind of things you would want to do on this trip. Want to club it up? Want the beach? Want to sight see? Want nature? Want the city?

I like museums. Not a big beach person (although I don't mind it, just don't love it the way my spouse and child do). I like to sight see, and I like theater. I like nature, but am not in great shape, so super long or strenuous hikes are probably out (more moderate ones would be fine).

Np. I like these suggestions!

For museums, theater, city walks: London, NYC (duh), Chicago

If you want to go to a place where you can relax, hike, swim and be pampered, try an all inclusive spa like Miraval or the Lodge at Woodloch. Lots of single travelers just taking some time out at those places.

If you like museums/galleries and the theater, why not go to a fancy hotel in London, get theater tix, and perhaps visit some museums, galleries, etc? Perhaps a day trip/tour to the Cotswolds?

I love the beach and ocean, so I would opt for a small, quiet full-service resort or even a cruise. I could relax and watch the ocean all day as long as I have access to shade.

It’s a schlep, but a boutique hotel in Italy would be amazing. The Lake District perhaps?

Friends of mine have done 5-day (and sometimes less) trips to Iceland. It’s a very safe country for solo travelers and a pretty short flight. You can do the Southern coast, the golden circle, the blue lagoon, sky lagoon.

I'm a late 40's mom of little ones who works full time. It was time for a break. I wanted to do things, but on my own schedule. I picked Paris because of nonstop flights and it's familiar to me, so I was able to hit the ground running. Jet lag wasn't awful.

I went this past April. I walked 30 miles during the three full days there. I met folks and had some nice conversations, but mostly enjoyed being by myself. I can't wait to do it again.

I just went to Amsterdam for 5 days by myself while waiting for my family and it was great! Super safe, walkable and great museums.

For an easy pampered US getaway check out the Sandpearl resort or Opal Sands in Clearwater beach. Fly into TPA and Uber to resort.

The resort will shuttle you around the island, or you can walk or trolley. The trolley is completely free if you stay at those resorts.

Sandpearl is particularly special and easy, onsite delicious restaurants, room service, beach/pool service, and nightly turndown service too. Plenty of Delicious food in walking distance. Some of the best brunch in the US.

It’s my go-to for an affordable, easy self-pampering getaway.

I think Four Seasons Costa Rica would be lovely and would focus on wellness and the spa, reading with a view and just relaxing.

Also Lake Austin Spa is quite nice and would be perfect to do solo.

Same!
