| You could drive DC in and drop off. Then come back and pickup. Lots of driving on your part, but no parking fees. |
The express bus to Rosslyn will not be running as of Monday. West and East Falls church stations are reopening. There will be an express between Vienna and West Falls Church. |

Pre-COVID, my 14 yo DD was a camp aide at the National Zoo. Since there was platform work at the Springfield and Van Dorn metro stations, she took the shuttle bus to the Pentagon and made the rest of the journey by metro.
I did practice the route with her a couple of times and we talked thru scenarios. I loaded up a Starbucks card for her so she could err on the side of arriving too early and get herself a drink at Starbucks until she had to report in. I didn't, not even for a moment, think about driving her anywhere but the closest metro. Knowing how to use public transportation is a lifeskill. It was good, low risk practice and confidence building. I'd teach your DD to use it and let her experience real life with little risk. |
| So you're raising your children in the DC area but not making them figure out what to do when there's an issue with metro? Have her take the shuttle to the next station. As to the "just drive her" pp, I'd tell DD to get a boyfriend if she wants someone to taxi her to Foggy Bottom every day. |
| $22-24/per day of parking at any GWU is worth your daughter’s safety. Metro is not the same as it used to be. |
