What's the summer (in humid DC) version of this daily uniform?

I vote for dresses as well. I've lived in hotter climates, but DC seems particularly hot in the summer and most places don't air condition cool enough. I find that cool dresses are best, and the only thing I have to pick out is shoes and jewelry.

Yea, I feel like the people responding "summer pants!" don't actually live in DC.

Or if you do, you're the type who doesn't go outside except to transfer from SFH to Range Rover to hair appointment with valet parking and back again.

I absolutely could and do wear "khakis" in July when I'm in coastal Maine or MV. But spending more than 45 seconds outside on a day like today in DC while wearing a fitted short sleeve tee and khakis is just a no

I responded with pants (the JCrew seaside pant) and I have lived in DC for 30 years and spend time outdoors most every day. If you think today is representative of a true hot and humid DC summer day, then I think you are the one who is a new transplant.

Is this for work or not work? Here’s my not work uniform:

Black linen sundress from athleta
5 inch inseam shorts tailored with pockets on black and khaki
Linen wide leg pants with elastic waist from old navy
Fitted tee shirts in white, and a color I like
Tank in black and a color I like
One or two cool non tee shirts (like a light peasant blouse or lightweight button down) to wear with the shorts
Lightweight cardigan
Vionic sandals

My work uniform is different.

+1

I have like 25 on rotation. Casual t-shirt, linen, ribbed maxi halter, off the shoulder linen, spaghetti strap, etc.

Wedges, sandals, jewelry, big straw hat.

I hate shorts at 50+ and pants way too hot. I hate anything binding.

I wish you could take me shopping! I have the worst time finding dresses that are casual and look nice but not like I'm trying too hard. Nearing 50 and hate how I look in shorts. I mostly wear pants and suffer.

Another vote for dresses. I have a ton from Boden. They are casual but have cute patterns, and if they have a cut that works on me I’ll get it in every color or print they make. It’s a “uniform” but doesn’t look like the same thing every day.

Dresses. For work, shift dresses. For casual, more like a t-shirt or empire waist. Flats, sneakers, or sandals.

I’ve also lived in DC that long. Today’s humidity hit 87%. That’s what meteorologists might call a humid summer day, I believe.

May I ask what kind of loafers you wear?

NP. I WFH and my summer uniform is similar to this, but when I’ll be outside for long I’ll wear a tank and unbuttoned long-sleeve linen shirt for more sun protection in place of a muscle tee.

Dreadful

I lived in DC for 8 years before moving to Florida and I think DC summers are worse than Florida, in terms of humidity.
