Well, I'm not the OP. I'm just some person making a random comment about what I'd want. It might be that OP wants something different. |
Beauvoir almost certainly doesn't have space, but it's also not going to be a fit for a kid who needs smaller class sizes, and a gentler pace. |
Not sure if they have space, but Concord Hill is very nurturing and could be great for your son. |
I am the OP, and yeah Geneva topping out at K could still potentially work for us if it gets him ready to integrate back in. But first and foremost we gotta find a) a place that’s going to work for a more anxious kid (smaller, more nurturing) and b) somehow against all odds still has slots as of late June! |
Try concord hill. Lovely school. |
Harbor School. Only has early ES and specializes in kids that need a little more TLC. |
Start making calls in the morning, OP! Good luck! |
Try Christ Episcopal School. Small classes and a great teacher and they may be able to take him even though it's summer. |
I would think careful before moving an anxious child to a new school for one year only. What about Oneness School or Woods Academy? Both are Montessori if that might be a good fit. |
+1 for WES. |
Primary Day School |
I would try Woods Academy. We didn't like the lower school (1-4) but the Montessori is fantastic and it would give you time to either decide you like it and want to stay or apply out for 1st. It's probably fine until about 2nd so you could also stay and apply out at 3rd. |
Try Franklin Montessori on Connecticut Ave. They also only go through K but my kids had a wonderful experience there and went right into first grade. They will have openings because they lose kids to other schools at K.

You should check out The River School in the Palisades, NW DC. Very small classes and very nurturing. They have openings. Our child went there through kindergarten and we found it to be a nurturing environment. |
