We have been at RCDA for a few years, and there is no quality issue. Students have gone on to have successful transitions to more pre-professional or competitive tracks if that is what they have wanted. (The owner and teachers are also very friendly.) |
That was not my experience with my 11-year old beginner, at all. The technical instruction was great and her costume was fine, baggy pants and a fitted black top with long sleeves. I agree the little girl costumes are on the skimpy side, however. Not sure why that's a thing! |
I'm guessing that you do not have a technical dance background. No reasonable assessment would call RCDA high quality or knowledgeable instruction. |
It was all about scantily clad children shaking it on stage. I have no idea who this appeals to but it's gross. No "real" dance....just boots shaking an d crotch shot leg lifts. No thanks. |
Beginner is the key word. They can't handle anyone beyond the very very beginning dancers. Any rec program could offer you more for far less money. |
Another happy RCDA parent here - not sure why you are so angry with them. Our daughter has been happily dancing for years with them, and the quality is excellent |
Mid-quality child care. Absolute bottom Dance instruction. |
That's why they do so well in local competitions? |
Yes, competitions are leveled...they choose the low level comps. Within the low level comps, they choose the lowest tiers. So yes, you are spot on. |
| There is a really mean dance mom on this board. |
Not exactly N Bethesda…Highly recommend hip hop focused dance studio called EUAC. Elements Urban Arts Collective. Located very close to Mom’s and Target in Rockville. |
| We’ve had a great experience at CityDance. |
Us too! Both Citydance studios and conservatory have been wonderful for my children. The teachers are the best of the best and the kids have excellent technique as a result. |
Wish I could agree. Really wanted that to be our place. Just wasn't. The teacher's were not kid people or good translators of technique. Not the right fit for my girls. |
I believe I know to which teachers you're referring, and neither one of them are there any longer. My DD is 9 and loving her time there- wonderful classes and teachers. |
