Older people travel less. As people age, they don't want to travel.

Is it possible your dad is anxious because he is aging and has sole responsibility for taking care of his handicapped wife?
What is the long term plan? It’s unrealistic to expect elderly relatives to continue to travel to visit you as they have in the past.
Do they have local help? Can they hire someone to help them?
You should talk to them about what they want and come up with options before there is a crisis….
