So what. Hyundais are now really good.

So? I’d still never own one.

Imagine how embarrassing it would be for your kids to pull up to school drop-off and have someone motion you into the teacher’s lot because they thought you might be a new substitute. Or one of the kitchen staff.

😂 Clearly OP is a troll

“Keeping Up Appearances“
I will take a Genesis over a BMW or a
Merzedes Benz.

They’re also supposed to be safe. Supposedly Tiger Woods may have died or lost a leg in another car.

They depreciate pretty quickly because it’s a newer brand without a huge base of loyal customers (and an unknown long term track record) so if you’re going to buy one it makes sense to buy lightly used.

If you’re getting a crossover or SUV I’d favor a Lexus due to better long term reliability and resale value, but Genesis is making some interesting and sportier vehicles.

They are fairly new, and it takes a while to establish a legacy of excellence. But so far they are on track. Their tech is top of the line, and the design (inside and out) is outstanding.

People looking for discounted luxury are the very reason prestige shoppers don’t value the brand. A hat is a hat unless it’s something everybody can’t have. Same reason people pay up for Prada. Quality is one thing but you won’t see many Real millionaires driving discount prestige brands, they typically go built well no frills like a Honda or yah I got it like the Germans. The middle doesn’t make sense except to strivers

Doesn’t even make sense. Tiger woods has massively more money than you and drove a Genesis that saved his life.

He was given a free Genesis to drive during a golf tournament weekend. Completely different than choosing and spending his own money on a Genesis.

I think it takes a very practical person to buy a Genesis. And I think most people aren’t nearly as rational as they think they are— they are swayed by the brand names that were desired/more elusive when they were a kid and have generations of brand equity built into them.
FWIW, we have a Genesis. It’s really nice. DH likes data, reliability and comfort, so it was a good choice for him.

And he was paid millions to do it too. He didn’t chose a Genesis

He would have like a Mercedes better I assure you. But it’s good enough for the price and it’s nicer in some ways than say some of the Japanese equivalents like Infiniti or Acura.

LOL... Hard time imagining Tiger at a Hyundai dealer. But whatever.

If he's in the market for a Genesis, he won't find one at a Hyundai dealership, so you're spot on with one.

How gauche of you.

Why are you offended? All luxury products are primarily about status.

I’ve been in one. It’s nice but I prefer BMW or Volvo. I didn’t love the interior design. I like Hyundai though.
