OK I looked up Alex Newell after the Tony's, bc I was curious about them (and I have tickets to Shucked at the end of the month!)--this was on their Wiki: "Newell identifies as gender nonconforming, and in May 2020 said they relate to their character Mo in Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, who is genderfluid. They have stated they go by all pronouns. Newell also identifies as gay."
Serious question--how can a person be gender nonconforming AND gay at the same time? I am in unfamiliar territory with this combo. Please educate me.

I'm not an expert at all and I don't know their specific preferences, but they could be pansexual, perhaps?
