Anxious about projected size of DC's 2nd grade class

Anonymous
I think there's a problem with the entire second-grade cohort. I couldn't figure out why, until someone mentioned the 9/11 baby boom.

Do the math -- in the months following 9/11, any babies conceived would have ended up being born after June 2002 or later, right at the end of the class now just entering third grade, but a more likely increase in the following months resulting in a glut of (current rising) second-graders.

Well then I guess we should brace for the Blizzard Baby Boom because that's coming in a few years! Seriously, my OB group has stopped taking non-pregnant patients and sent a letter to the pregnant patients requesting that we see the nurse practitioner instead of a doctor at every other visit because their schedules are so full now due to all the blizzard babies conceived in Jan & Feb. (Mine was conceived in March, so not a blizzard baby but will still be part of that same class year.)
