what is this disgusting sticky stuff coating my cars on the daily?

I’ve lived here my whole life and have never had this happen until this year. I’ve washed my car more this spring than the whole time I’ve owned it. Little sticky drops like others have said. Very strange.

The just talked about the bad air quality on the news but they said nothing about the brown dust/sap.

It's honeydew from spotted lanternflies, which are much worse in this area than in the past.

I've had that sticky stuff on the car for weeks. I assumed it was from the trees that I park under. But definitely not from the wildfire smoke which just got here.
