Fwiw, Fairfax just put out a list of many county camps that still have spaces, and I know of other Nova camps that have spaces too. Look around locally, OP. There are lots of camps that aren't full.

You didn't say where you are in the DMV, and that would help us make appropriate recommendations.

Also - join your local pool and have her do summer swim team. Laid back (not like year round swimming) and she'll meet friends her age who live nearby

I was going to suggest exactly this.

Is this a joke? It can take years to get into your neighborhood pool.

For full membership yes, but most do a summer season only membership - so all of August while it's otherwise quiet. We were able to do this at 2 different Bethesda pools the first time we tried. It's easy and it is not that expensive.

Breathing Space recently took advantage of an opportunity to host almost all our summer camps at St. Marks (301 A Street SE) which means more space and, therefore, more campers.
We have spots not claimed by our waitlist for the following weeks:
• July 5 (3 days)
• Juy 10
• July 17
• July 24
Camp is always more fun with friends, so if you know anyone who's still making summer camp, plans, please have them check us out! https://breathingspacedc.com/kids-yoga-camps/summer-camps/
Breathing Space summer camp provides children with a fun, creative, educational, and enriching experience through yoga movement classes, mindfulness activities, relaxation, games, crafts, field trips, and outdoor time. We are excitedly organizing supplies and planning camp themes and activities for your kids this summer.

Fellow procrastinator here. Just signed up DD 11 for Camp Letts two days ago. There are limited spots remaining, but there are some.

There are some great sleepaway camp options:
Camp Letts
Camp Twin Creeks
Camp Hidden Meadows

All of these have space and will have many DC area campers.

Audubon (now renamed Nature Forward) - https://natureforward.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Summer-Camp-Catalog-2023.pdf

still has some openings for that age. If the outdoors is of interest.

+1. A relative bargain and tailor-made for a girl who might think she's too old for camp.

There might be some openings at Traveling Players Ensemble. Wonderful, close-knit program for older kids and teens.

Not true. Ours has no wait list and needs members

Writers on the Go, a creative writing camp, still has a couple of spots left for this summer. My kids really enjoyed it last summer.
