I'd only worry if you got something near 607 |
Yes, it is. Everyone knows where this is on the chart. Even the OP said they knew it was a good score. |
It really doesn’t mean anything. It’s technically pass advance but this is not a hard test. It’s a persuasive writing prompt and with that score he probably got one of the easier ones like “should schools do locker searches” vs a quote they had to understand and then agree or disagree with. The test measures basic competencies in writing and mechanics and punctuation. It SHOULDN’T be hard to pass. It also doesn’t automatically mean your kid should be in AP. It’s an easy test he did moderately well on, that’s it. |
^ I guess I should add I’m a high school English teacher |
My sons scored perfect 600s on many subjects all through elementary school/MS and the elementary never put the firstborn in GT even with a very high CoGat score as well. The APS elementary filled most of the spots in kindergarten from pushy parents and big donors that insisted they had geniuses.
The oldest was awarded GT in all subjects (with us doing nothing) at the end of 8th grade,,,just in time for us to pull him out and put him a private HS. It really means absolutely nothing in APS. He did score a perfect ACT at the start of Junior year this year and straight As, 5s on AP tests. We now joke about the entire GT snub which seemed like a big deal back then. Younger one was put in GT but there had been a mass exodus out of the elementary school during his time since a new elementary school had opened. |
