I'm feeling terrible about myself right now -- what can I buy to make myself feel better?

A new haircut? That always lifts my self image for a few weeks.

Otherwise I’d suggest a new swimsuit + trip to the beach, or new hiking shoes + a day on the trail. Get outside and away from it all.

I’d get a piece of jewelry.

Ugh, sorry OP - and you know what? Retail therapy sometimes really does help.

Do you feel like you're missing something like a dress or some shoes? Do you feel like a haircut or a pedicure would make you feel better? What's your usual pick me up?

I always feel better after a pedicure - but don't just do it the once; let yourself enjoy having pretty toes all summer if you can swing the $ and time.

OP here, thank you for the suggestions. Definitely buying flowers and a new vase this week.

I think I'd also like a new dress. I have an event for my kid coming up later this month and it's not super fancy but it would be nice to feel great about how I look that day. Anyone have and great day dress suggestions that might be a mood boost? Maybe something bright and floral but also super comfortable? I could definitely use the shot of confidence.

A really nice (fake, of course) tan.

A nice glowy tinted sunscreen, moisturizer, or light foundation for wearing in the summer.

Haircut or color; or blowout.

A great dress or bag.

Look at Rails, Evereve, and Anthropologie for those types of dresses.

PP again -- and if you want something really bright, vibrant -- Farm Rio.

A new lipstick if you wear it.

Mani/pedi at your local nail salon.

+1 to this, these are my go-to pick-me-ups. Or a blowout at a salon

to piggyback on PP, nothing makes me happier than a "designer" dress for a bargain price. I just bought a DVF yellow floral wrap dress on thredup for less $60. There are Anthro and Farm Rio buy/sell/swap groups on FB (and many other brands too, like Veronica Beard).

And to throw out one more suggestion, this is a great time of year for designer sunglasses as you'll get a lot of use out of them. Not sure if Thredup sells sunglasses, but definitely Nordstrom Rack does.

Oh good! I thought those were great suggestions too. I liked that cool looking $20 vase and Trader Joe's does have great flowers. And I think you are right on about finding a easy dress to wear and just having it ready for your event and knowing you look great. (I'm the poster who suggested the green dress on the "need a dress for my anniversary dinner" thread, and it made me laugh to discover I have different ideas of cute from virtually anyone else. So I will just watch for suggestions for you).

Non-toxic perfume!

My favorite brands are Henry Rose, 7Virtues, and rosie jane.

Each brand has samplers for around $30.

Selling great always lifts my mood.

I bought a very cute vase at target a few months ago and decided I would buy fresh flowers once a week and keep them on my kitchen island. It is a huge mood booster!!

I loved my breast lift and mini tummy tuck I had done at 42. I can wear belts now! So worth it.
