How often do you get mantis and pedis? Do you ever do your nails at home? Just curious.

It would be $26 for a regular mani. This is Fairfax County fwiw.

Dazzle dry coats me an extra $5 in nyc. You are being scammed. $19 for the polish for a single manicure???

Dc doesn’t have exploitive labor like
Nyc does.

Yup—whole NYT article about nail workers in NY. Made price differences make a lot more sense.

OP and I almost always do my nails at home. I get a professional, basic, mani & pedi once a year at the start of summer. This year I was surprised at the prices and was curious if they went up all over the DC area. I used to pay around $20 for a pedicure and now it's nearly double.

I’m in NJ and these prices surprise me. $20 including tip for a regular manicure. $1 quick dry. $5 extra for week-lasting polish.

I do it once a month as a treat to myself! I have annoying cuticles that I need help with.

Do you need me to link the NYT article referenced? There was a big expose on these low prices a few years ago. I don’t really mind paying more but I now agree the dazzle dry upcharge is silly so I’m going to do regular at my next appt.

Plenty of people are paying $35 and under in the DC area for a mani/pedi. That is definitely human trafficking/exploiting immigrant prices

I think my pedis are $42 (Bethesda) but the prices keep going up.

I pay $55 for a dry pedicure in Arlington. There is an express pedicure for less ($35?).

There is also an upcharge for Dazzle Dry. I decided to try it out to see what all the fuss was about, and I was pretty amazed at how quickly it dried and how long it lasted! Looked amazing for a long time. Considering I don't get pedicures that often, I think the dazzle dry is worth it.

55 for a dry pedicure!? That’s insane. I honestly do not get my nails done here. I’m from NYC and just cannot wrap my head around paying 80 a week for mani/ pedi vs. 45 max total. I’ve learned to do my nails myself. More sanitary and less of a time suck but I do miss that put together feeling, although I do a decent job. I get having to pay ppl but a good manicure takes 15 minutes. So, that’s 34$/15 minutes. Batty!

I’ve been shocked how pedi prices have gone up in Arlington. It’s $40 easy for a basic pre tip and $50-60 for spa at both the places I go.
