I don’t think this is necessarily a bad idea…but for some reason my gut tells me the dad could end up being pretty pushy about the Hebrew name. (Or, I suppose, vice versa though in my experience it’s usually the parent focused on “tradition” who won’t let things drop as easily.) Could be better just to rip the bandaid off from the get-go.
