Handicapped Parking

Because Maryland drivers.

Maybe if more people are fined and towed, it will have an impact. Good for you, OP.

I have noticed a general decrease in courtesy and increase in entitlement amongst drivers, period. No signaling, running stop signs, parking in handicapped spaces, parking in two spaces, doubleparking, idling in front of store entrances to pick up able-bodied people instead of parking, not allowing other drivers to feed in, etc.

I am mad for you, OP. I support you calling him every single car you see so they get ticketed.

In your spare time, of course!

I think that most of the violations I see now are Door Dash drivers and other pick up drivers who honestly believe that they can pull over anywhere including in the middle of traffic. They simply don't care because they THINK they will be gone in two minutes.

Karma will get them. I hope anyway.

I do wonder if some of them may be old people or otherwise disabled people who haven’t gone to the effort of going to the dmv especially during COVID.

My parents are in another state where you have to go inside the dmv to get the tag. We probably are not going to renew it because our father is housebound. Which means we rarely take him out except to the doctors. No way am I taking him to a dmv where he could get COVID.

No a tow company will not come out and tow a car for this.
The $250 fine is more than a tow bill anyway.

There are three accessible spots outside my DCPS ES. Every evening at aftercare pick up time, those spaces are full with cars with no placard. I guess they don't care if a disabled parent or disabled child needs to do pick up. The selfishness is extraordinary.

Recruit the business where the violation is happening to help you. If it’s at the grocery store or the dining establishment the Uber Eats driver is picking up, call the business and complain you are a paying customer and will not patronize if you cannot park! The business should send employees periodically to enforce this/discourage abuse of the handicapped spaces.
