I didn't understand who all the people in episode 6 were and/or how they were related. Was Michelle also a Berezinski (or whatever) and so was she JLC's sister?? Are those two still alive? She owns a couple of restaurants, wut?

I think she was JLC’s cousin or in law on the kids father’s side, JLC was a Barezotto by marriage. I don’t know if she meant she owned a coupe of restaurants or just had a couple she wanted Carm to visit in NY.

That episode will win an Emmy. Hard to watch b/c of how it was filmed but she did an outstanding job in that role.

It felt very real to me as did Carmy’s Alanon monologue.

Watched season 1 because everyone was raving about it and didn’t understand it at all. I just wish for them to have less chaotic lives!

Season 2 had a lot more character development. I loved episode Forks. It felt very genuine to see Richie be gut punched but grow. Music and last scene was chefs kiss.

I finished the series last night and came back to say Forks was my favorite episode! And then to see how it played out to the last episode. I loved it so much and loved to see this growth for Richie.

And yeah the music in the final scene -- hilarious but also moving!

I love this show. My favorite in years. It’s hard to watch in parts - the monologues and yelling and JLC - but intentionally so. I think it’s exceptionally made drama.

My husband and I were wondering about the restaurant thing also and were laughing at that. I told him I had a couple of restaurants too ha.

Was their father dead, and Better Call Saul was a guy JLC was dating?

I want to talk about the last episode but I don't want to spoil things for anyone. I think the thing with the mom wound up working out in the end.

I think the Mom thing worked out too but curious why the son in law (forgot his name) was so emotional. Like really?
But I am really curious where Carmy goes next in his life… I hope we get season 3!

I thought the son-in-law just wanted MIL to come in for Natalie, because he knew she wanted her mother to show up for her so much. And then maybe he realized that her coming in would ruin things for everyone so maybe she actually was right? And then having the weight of knowing that secret and having to keep it to himself so as to let them have their restaurant victory (which I think the knowledge of MIL coming but not coming would have spoilt a little, taken the spotlight, which is what she was trying to avoid in the first place maybe?). jmho

It had such a strong showing in viewership for FX, I bet they will renew! Hope we can pay writers fairly so that the strike can be over and they can get back to it!

This was also driving me crazy and I had to pause it halfway through to look some things up, though I still don't know the exact relationship of everyone. But here's what I figured out based on character descriptions and some deduction.

Michelle is a cousin on their dad's side (she's a Berzatto). Steven (Mulaney) is her boyfriend, and he's been to these gatherings before because he knows all the people.

Lee (Odenkirk) seems to be Donna's brother.

Jimmy is obviously on their dad's side (unclear if he's an actual uncle or just gets called that, but they are related).

I think Richie is a cousin on their mom's side, which is why Jimmy tells Richie that he's not actually his uncle.

Tiffany is Richie's wife.

I think a major part of my confusion during the episode is that we have two cousins (Richie and Michelle) and two uncles (Jimmy and Lee) but none of the uncles appear to be either of the cousin's dads? I mean obviously there could be other uncles who are not there or who have died, as Carmy's dad has died. But it just makes it extra confusing. Also, the way the episode introduces Lee, Michelle, and Steven all together at the beginning makes it seem like they are a family unit of some kind (I thought Michelle and Steven were Lee's kids initially). So it's confusing as it becomes apparent that they aren't related at all, just connected via Carmy's family.

Oh, and the guy who comes in with the tuna casserole... that's Natalie's husband, right? Pete? But they obviously aren't married in the flashback. Am I getting that right?

Yes, tuna cassarole guy is Natalie's husband, definitely!

Thanks for this, I did not get at all that Odenkirk was Donna's brother. whoa!

Do we know this for sure? I really thought he was her BF, and part of the boy's animosity was his stepping into a pseudo-paternal role.
