There are a lot of tax benefits/write offs for everyone. Your retirement investments, your college and now private K-12 investments, your healthcare investment and expenditures, your childcare expenditures, electric cars, solar panels, energy efficient heat pumps, mortgage and HELOC interest, multimillion dollar estate exemptions, stepped-up cost bases on inherited assets, rental property depreciation, business asset depreciation…

Please read the thread. I explained for lay people what is and isn’t taxable.

If you have a reference for a way we don’t have to pay tax on my husband’s income, please do share! I’m sure his church and our accountant (who specializes in ministers taxes) would also love to know!

This is why I started a home-based church. I also had some divine revelations.

What is the reason for churches not paying taxes ?
If they are giving some to charities that should be the only tax deductible.

PP is likely a troll but as someone who has actually started a legitimate church, I can answer your question.

-if PP was employed by the “church” they would be able to set aside some or all of their (church) income as housing allowance and decline to pay into social security.
-home office and meeting space could be deductible like if you used your home for a business; same for deducting business expenses.
-if the “church” had income it would not be subject to income taxes. But of course they would need to incorporate and file with the IRS and state to be a not for profit.
