| Joe Biden’s America. Four more years! Four more years! |
Seriously, I mean, why can't the Democrats pass legislation? It's their fault for every one of these senseless acts. It couldn't be the unified opposition against ANY measures to pass gun safety legislation by the House (which is of course controlled by the Republicans). It couldn't be the filibuster proof Republican minority in the Senate that would block ANY gun control measures, right? So maybe, let's focus at the state level. Let's see...just this week, we have multiple mass shootings in...Texas, Mississippi. Yep, it's the gosh darned Democrats holding things back again at the state level. I mean, why can't they just ban AR-15 like they did in Illinois? Oh, they don't control any levers of power? You don't say? GTFO of here with ignorant comments like the above. |

If the democrats can't pass legislation to get stricter gun control in this environment, then they either aren't trying or aren't capable. Have they even introduced any legislation to reduce gun violence at all? |
We need NATIONAL legislation because if it's at the state level, the criminals will find the states with the weakest laws and use them for their gun pipelines. That's already what happens - Chicago guns come from next door in Indiana, because Indiana's gun laws are weak. |
You must be very new to American politics. |
They don't control the House, and the GOP won't touch the issue, so what do you suggest? |
Oh okay. So I guess democrats can't effect any change at all. Seriously, what are you offering if you can't offer to reduce violence at all? You can't pass gun control, won't put security in schools (and took SROs out of MoCo schools), won't support police enforcement of laws to prevent violence, won't lock people up. What exactly can the democrats do for this issue? |
Has there been any serious legislative efforts by dems in the Senate on this issue? Anything at all? It's pathetic. |
|
They tried after Sandy Hook and failed.
Look, it is pretty much pointless until the Rs are willing to negotiate. Sinema and Manchin won’t kill the filibuster. Any gun legislation would meet these roadblocks. It just is what it is. Trust me, I hate this, but it is the absolute reality. |
What's your point, in attacking the Dems for not having enough votes? The Dems are at least willing to try, if they are politically able to. If the Dems were able to get enough of a voting bloc they damn well would put some regulation up for a vote. Republicans on the other hand not only aren't doing anything, they are actively opposing anyone doing anything. Vote Republican and all you will EVE get is "Durrr... thots and prayers, moar gunz!" when your baby daughter's face gets shot off by some deranged lunatic who never should have been allowed within 1000' of a gun but instead got service with a smile as he bought 6 of them. |
They tried one time, 11 years ago, and failed so they gave up. Then why can't they pivot and offer something else to protect us? They are actually making things worse by reducing police and becoming more lenient ("prison reform"). Crime is going up, not down. If their only answer is to say, well, we tried once and failed, and now we are going to pull back all protections and let you all fight it out on the streets-- that is not a persuasive pitch to voters. Clean it up. |
What I'm expecting is for our elected leaders to take these problems seriously and find solutions, even if they aren't ideal. They take zero responsibility. |

Rs are the ones loosening gun restrictions
But sure, blame ending cash bail or whatever BS you’re on about |
