It sounds like "Roberta, our HR manager."
I really don't like it, sorry. It's so strange how some feminine forms of male names like Danielle or Gabriela or Adriana/Adrienne are so beautiful to me, yet ones like Roberta/Henrietta are not.
I like Robin better
I think it's the heavy "bert" that's putting people off the name. In the same way, Bertha is not as popular as Hazel.
Absolutely hate it. And that's WITH having a lovely relative named Roberta. Love the person, hate the name.
Makes me think of John Roberts.
Ramona
I’d choose Renata instead.
I like Roberta. Roberta has a large, expensive shoe collection. Roberta goes out for ice cream alone just because she wants some. Roberta isn't afraid to tell the PTA exactly what she thinks and then invite them all to her house for a barbecue. Roberta has family money and sends cash to friends anonymously.
I like this Roberta too!

Not good
My mom is Roberta (Berta) and she's awesome, but I don't love the name. Rowena is pretty.
OP here. Well, pleased to see I'm not the only person who likes it but it sounds like it's for the best that my DH is inevitably cooler than I am and vetoed the name.

I don't mind Roberta--but I prefer it with more of a Spanish pronunciations (where the "ber" part rhymes with "air" as opposed to rhyming with "fur.")
Bobbie for a little girl is not at all appealing to me. |
I like it and reminds me of the musical "Roberts". It's a classy name but I don't like "Bobbie." |
