Is it possible to move kid to higher grade (very close to Sept 30 cutoff)?

They are either 16 months older or younger. Someone has to be the youngest.

I hardly doubt there are lots of 15 year old 8th graders. My 13 year old is in 8th grader and it's fine. Most are 14 now.

“Tons?” I really hope you are embellishing.

Someone is always going to be the youngest and the oldest in any class, but having 19-20 year old seniors in high school is ridiculous.

What’s the point? Our middle schooler has the same birthday. DH and I were just discussing how school has been a completely different experience for that child being the very oldest. Everything has gone smoothly and been a bit easier.

Our other child wasn’t pushed ahead but had a different birthday and is one of the youngest. Every year has been a struggle and now it’s the worst in high school, to the point where it’s a serious mental health issue. Academics have been fine. It’s all the other stuff. We always wonder what would have happened if we redshirted.

You can find as many stories of kids who skipped grades and thrived. You never know and why rush it.
