Things that wealthy people get for free or discounted that others pay for?

Everything. Free homes, cars, money, education, clothes, shoes, accessories, furniture, food, you name it. It’s been so eye-opening.

So many things that can be paid monthly or all at once. For example, We get discounts on insurance, trash pick up, piano lessons. We get a discount for paying 6 months at a time rather than monthly. No banking fees because we maintain a certain balance.

Not PP but the material stuff (clothes, shoes etc) I could see a rich person being able to get for free if they’re an actor or model or have designer friends. Or they have friends who are higher ups at companies that sell high end stuff & thus they get access to factory warehouses.

As for education & housing, high-paying expat jobs pay for that.

Free atm withdrawals have been huge. Always amused when I don't have to pay exorbitant fees at gas stations, bars, and strip clubs!

Discount (or free) theater/sport/event tickets from their company. I got Hamilton tickets, when it came out, for 50% off cover price (thinking that was expensive), later to find out the seats next to us sold for $2k a piece!

I’ve lived in cities my whole life (not just big ones) so not familiar with having to organize & pay your own trash pickup.

Definitely material stuff. I bought so many high quality baby items (clothes, furniture, walkers, balance bikes, classic toys, etc), then I gave them to my younger colleagues. Selling them would have been too much of a pain.

The president of my child’s university lives in a gigantic gated house (students protest outside it often). It’s owned by the university. He makes at least $900k/year.

But no discounts on those.

The lending thing is a huge one. We got a great mortgage rate because my DH’s law firm has a deal with Citibank. My DH remarked on how unfair it is that we pay such a lower rate when we could afford not to.

This.

I married into money and this is the biggest one, tbh.

Do my relatives get clothes pulled for them and sent in special? Sure. Their usual spots have their measurements and do initial alterations for free, too. Things get bundled together to make it seem like they are getting a great deal but they still pay for the clothes/bags/shoes.

All you need to do is mention the area in which you're having a problem and someone will chime in with what you should do or who you should speak to. It's all very quid pro as well.

Anne puts in a good word for Tom's wife, Claire, to get on the board of a charity she's interested in.
Claire uses her new position to convince the charity to use Gary's wife's sister's struggling catering company for their next fundraiser.
